The Toyota Prius has an integrated GPS system that can be accessed via the dashboard's control panel and touchscreen console. In addition to controlling the CD player and radio, the control panel also regulates other vehicle functions, such as the CD player and radio. By default, the navigation screen emerges after 20 seconds of inactivity and continues to beep or provide aural direction even when it is not required. Using the buttons on the control panel and touchscreen, you can alter the settings of the navigation system so that it no longer does this, or turn it off entirely.
Prevent the system from switching to GPS.
- Press the "Setup" button on the control panel's right side. The touchscreen will display the "Setup" screen.
- Select "General" from the touchscreen menu.
- Press "Auto Screen Change" until "Off" appears. This disables the control panel from automatically returning to the navigation screen when the screen is changed.
- Press "Beep" until "Off" is shown. Click "Save." This disables the navigation system's audible alerts.
- Return to the "Setup" screen and tap the "Voice" button on the touchscreen. Press "Off" followed by "Save" on the touchscreen. This disables the navigation system's voice prompts.
- To switch audio modes, press the "CD," "FM," or "AM" button on the left side of the control panel. Unless you actively choose it from the control panel, the timer will not return to GPS mode.
Turn off the system completely.
- Press the "DISP" button on the control panel's right side. There will be a menu displayed on the touchscreen.
- Touch the "Screen Off" button on the touchscreen to switch off the device.
- Press "DISP" again to restart the device.
